Lesia Burford is a Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI™) who has been teaching in the Sydney region with K9 Nose Time Pty Ltd since 2014. Her journey into the sport began under the guidance of Marion Brand, the founder of K9 Nose Time, who had just started classes in Castle Hill. At that time, Lesia’s second puppy, Ranger, a highly reactive dog, found the sport to be a perfect outlet and motivator, enhancing his confidence and engaging his natural instincts in a safe environment.

Since that first class, Lesia has been at the forefront of education, training, and competition in the sport of K9 Nose Work in Australia. She serves as a judge and Certifying Official for Australian Canine Scent Work (ACSW™) trials and competitions. Lesia took over K9 Nose Time in 2018, and under her guidance, it runs over 25 classes weekly, catering to more than 100 handler and dog teams each term, while also supporting new instructors through training and education.

Lesia brings a diverse educational and professional background to her work. She holds a Bachelor of Science and a postgraduate degree in Emergency Management and has experience in hospitality, management, and training. Her dedication to K9 Nose Work® has led her to become a full-time instructor, driven by her passion for sharing the sport with dogs and handlers who can benefit the most. Residing in Sydney, Lesia shares her home with two beloved Border Collies, Syrah (13) and Ranger (12), and her new working cocker spaniel puppy, Flare.
